Welcome… you have made the wise decision to gift yourself this moment—a quiet invitation to connect with the very essence of your being, in the here and now. This guided meditation will gently walk you through the process of grounding, soothing, and finding peace in the present moment.
To begin, let’s create a space that’s conducive to slowing down and tuning in.
- Choose a quiet place: Somewhere you feel safe and undisturbed.
- Find a comfortable position: Whether sitting in a comfortable chair, cross-legged on the ground, or lying down—choose a position that allows you to keep your spine straight and relaxed.
- Dim the lights: If it’s agreeable to you, switch off harsh lights and choose a soft light source instead.
As we journey into the depths of our being, remember there is no right or wrong way to meditate. Our aim is not to empty the mind but to become an observer of our thoughts and emotions, without judgment or expectation. So even if your mind wanders, and it will, gently bring it back to focus on the rhythm of your breath.
Now, close your eyes and let’s embark on this intimate journey back to the present, back to self.
Take a deep breath in, savoring the coolness of the air entering your nostrils or mouth. Feel the sensation of your lungs filling up. Hold your breath for a count of three and then exhale slowly, allowing your body to soften and settle into its natural rhythm.
Imagine as though there is a weight pulling you gently downwards. This gravity is not a force against you, rather it is grounding you, connecting you with the earth beneath. The earth, a symbol of stability and balance, unwavering and everlasting.
Feel this sense of grounding spread from the soles of your feet, through your legs, your hips, your spine, and up to the crown of your head. You are firmly held by mother earth, rooted in the nourishing energy of the present moment.
Now, turn your attention to your heartbeat. Feel the rhythmic pulsing, a silent, constant tune, a testament of your life, your existence. You are here, you are present. There’s nothing you need to do or strive for, just be.
With each breath you take, feel the wave of peace wash over you. You are not considering the past, not worrying about the future, you are here, right at this moment, whole and unbroken, just as you were meant to be.
