1. Introduction: Embracing the Serenity through Meditation in Tagalog

Welcome to a new journey of self-discovery and peace. Today, we will guide you through a meditation in Tagalog, a language that speaks of home and love. This meditation allows us to tap into the essence of serenity within ourselves, grounding us through the familiarity of our Mother Tongue. Let us embrace the tranquility that resides within all of us through meditation.
Begin by finding a comfortable position, whether sitting on a chair, cross-legged on the floor, or lying down. Whatever feels right for your body is the appropriate way to begin this journey.
First step: Relax your body
You may close your eyes or keep them half-closed. Feel the earth or floor beneath you. Consciously release the tension from each part of your body.
Start from your toes, then slowly up to your knees, your hips, your stomach. Relax your chest, your shoulders, and finally, your head. Release any tension you may be holding onto.
Envision a wave of calm washing over your entire body, relaxing your muscles, and soothing your mind.
Second step: Observe your breath
Now, we will start to pay attention to our breath.
Take a slow, deep breath in and a slow exhale out. Notice the air as it enters your nostrils and fills your lungs. As you exhale, feel the warm breath as it passes your lips and nose, exiting the body.
No need to control your breathing or make it rhythmic, simply observe it as it is. Notice how it feels to breathe in your own rhythm, in your own time.
Third step: Allow the thoughts to come and go
Just like clouds passing in the sky, allow your thoughts to come and go. Do not latch onto them or try to push them away. Do not judge them.
Simply notice them and allow them to pass. As you notice a thought, bring your attention back to your breath.
Fourth step: Mindful meditation in Tagalog
During this step, we will use some Tagalog phrases to further ground us in tranquility. As you inhale, mentally say:
“Lagi kong dinggin ang tunog ng paghinga ko.”
And on the exhale:
“At kalmado ko itong pinapawalan.”
This simply translates to “I am hearing the sound of my breath” on the inhale, and “I am releasing it calmly” on the exhale.
Fifth step: Ending the meditation session
After about 20 minutes or so, or when you feel ready, gently bring your attention back to your surroundings. Wiggle your fingers, feel the floor beneath you, listen to the sounds in the environment, smell the lingering aroma of your venue.
Open your eyes slowly, appreciating the sight around you. Notice how you feel after meditation. Hopefully, you feel a sense of calm and peace enveloping you.
